Tips for Creating Your Own Road Trip Playlists

Blog | Jan 30, 2017

While using a pre-made playlist you found online is a great starting point, eventually, you will want to try your own hand at creating your own road trip playlists. When building a playlist, it is important to consider various aspects of your upcoming travel, as follows:

  • Are you traveling alone or in a group? Traveling alone gives you more flexibility with the songs you select because you can pick all of your favorites and not worry about including songs you may “tolerate” for someone else’s listening pleasure.
  • What is the age range of the people traveling with you? If you are traveling with your family and the ages range from toddlers to teens, then you might need a broader playlist to include favorites for everyone in the car. On the other hand, if you are traveling with a group of young twenty-somethings, then the playlist can be tailored to fit the currently trendy music with this age group.
  • How far are you traveling? If you only build a small playlist of songs that is a few hours long, but will be driving for eight to ten hours or more, then you may grow tired of your playlist before you even get to your destination.

In addition, it is recommended to build a variety of playlists to give yourself options while on the road. Furthermore, you should have different playlists for the trip there and the trip back home.
