Dashboard Warning Indicators: Proceed with Caution or Seek Help Immediately?
We all rely on our cars to get us from Point A to Point B, but often we ignore warning signs that could point to important issues with the vehicle. Your dashboard contains a lot of the information you need to diagnose a problem, but what do all the lights mean? The ability to recognize different indicators, and knowing when to get help from a professional, will keep your car running for years to come.
Warning lights, including the low fuel notification and the power steering warning light, indicate that you should proceed with caution. While you can clear the fuel light by refilling the gas tank, the power steering indicator means you should take your car in to get looked at, because it may need a power steering flush in order to maneuver correctly.
There are additional warning signs that mean you should seek help immediately. These include the engine light, the oil warning light, and the coolant warning light. Consult your owner’s manual to locate each of these indicators on your dashboard so you can be ready.
